Frozen plants restart their growth. • Shortlink
They're still alive!
This is probably the surprise of biologists by seeing plants reborn after being frozen for 400 anni under an Arctic glacier.
The experiment was shown by a researcher team of Catherine Le Farge, coming from Canadian University of Alberta. The reborn plants belonging to one of the first families adapted in the land, called bryophytes, and preserve all the feature which allowed to these plants the revival.
With this experience, seven living organisms are being brought lo life: from molluscs to thin special plants high just few mm. Researchers discovered mosses in Canadian Arctic, on Ellesmere Island, thanks to the melting of Teardrop glacier. The radiocarbon tests claims that these living organisms had frozen about 1550 and 1850.
